CULT Food Science Corp. (CSE: CULT) is a cutting-edge investment platform advancing the development of breakthrough technologies to create a sustainable, environmental, and ethical solution to the global factory farming dilemma.

As part of their continued investment in sustainability, Cult Food Science Corp has made an early-stage investment in Africa’s first precision fermentation startup, which produces alternative dairy. Cult Food Science joins other significant investors in narrowing their attention on the alternative dairy industry.

CULT is excited to add De Novo to its growing portfolio of innovators that are working to change the global food industry for the better. We are keenly interested in De Novo’s work and how it might revolutionize the dairy business and alter consumer demand for traditional dairy products,” said Lejjy Gafour, President of CULT. “Finding ways to convert longstanding industries that are harmful to animals and the environment into a sustainable alternative is the wave of the future, and we at CULT are doing what we can to sponsor this shift through our investments,” added Mr. Gafour.

De Novo taking ethical nutrition to new heights

De Novo, a Cape Town, South Africa-based company, is Africa’s first precision fermentation company focused on alternative protein products such as ice cream, yogurt, and cheese. De Novo uses fermentation to manufacture alternative milk proteins identical to those found in cow’s milk and can be effortlessly integrated into animal-free dairy products.

De Novo’s products deliver the familiar sensory experience of traditional dairy and the nutritional benefits. This is done considerably more ethically, sustainably, and efficiently because milk proteins are mostly connected with traditional dairy’s physiochemical behavior, taste, and texture.

De Novo strives to create a sustainable and creative solution to the worldwide greenhouse gas challenge, with meat and dairy production accounting for 57% of all food-related carbon emissions. The CULT management team is impressed by De Novo’s success thus far and anticipates the company bringing a diverse and sustainable range of animal-free dairy products to market.

It really is inspiring to see all the international support De Novo Dairy has been receiving for our mission to improve human nutrition whilst removing animals from the food chain. Having CULT  Food Science on our side has definitely taken it to the next level, and we look forward to what we will be achieving together in the coming years,” added Jean Louwrens, CEO of De Novo.

The implementation of De Novo’s product offerings is projected to allow consumers to enjoy the true flavor, texture, and nutritional value of animal-derived dairy while avoiding industrial farming, lactose, hormones, and antibiotics.
