Natural gas markets initially tried to rally a bit during the course of the trading week, but it looks like we have given back quite a bit of those gains. Because of this, I think we are still stuck in the summer doldrums, and I would not look for a huge move quite yet.

In this article:

Natural Gas Weekly Technical Analysis

The natural gas markets initially rallied during the week but have given back quite a bit of the gains. That being said, there is a little bit of heat coming to the northeastern part of the United States, so that might push natural gas a little bit higher, but this would be a short term trade more than anything else. The $2.50 level is a significant level to pay attention to, and it has offered a significant amount of resistance.

A short term pullback from here still makes sense given enough time, and I’m willing to step in and start buying around the $2 level. I don’t do it with leverage. This is an investment. This is something that I will be closing out. The trade probably in the middle of fall, just to take advantage of the cyclical swing. Right now, I’m not overly compelled to step in and start buying, but if I do again, it just won’t have leverage.

It will be something like an ETF and then it becomes an investment. Longer term traders make sure your leverage is dial down. Natural gas can really put a beating on you if you get it wrong. And there are a lot of variables that you have to keep in mind. Nonetheless, I think we are getting close to an area where investors are going to step in and start buying this asset.
