Latest Updates
The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic maintained its benchmark interest rate at 9% during its February 2025 meeting, holding borrowing costs steady for the seventh straight time at their lowest level since January 2022. The decision was supported by stable inflation and a continued economic recovery. The inflation in the Kyrgyz Republic remains moderate, with a 1.5% year-to-date increase and a 6.9% annual rate, as food and service prices show moderate growth due to previous inflation factors like wage increases. Meanwhile, economic activity continues to grow, with a 10.6% GDP increase in January 2025, supported by strong demand, higher real incomes, remittances, and rising consumer credit. The board is continuously evaluating internal and external economic conditions and may adjust its monetary policy in response to any identified risks. The committee also kept its overnight credit and deposit rates at 11% and 4%, respectively.
