In Kyrgyzstan, the main components of the consumer price index are: food and non-alcoholic beverages (46.7 percent of the total weight); clothing and footwear (14.1 percent) and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (12 percent). Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels account for 8.2 percent; transport and communications for 5.8 percent and household appliances and equipment for 3.8 percent. Others include: miscellaneous goods and services (2.9 percent); health care and education (2.5 percent); restaurants and hotels (2.4 percent) and leisure and culture (1.4 percent). The CPI reflects the prices and spending patterns registered in the 8 main urban areas of the country.

The annual inflation rate in Kyrgyzstan increased to 7% in February 2025 from 6.7% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since December 2023, driven by rising costs for food & non-alcoholic beverages (7.6% vs 6.1% in January), education (24.8% vs 24.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (3.8% vs 1.6%). Meanwhile, inflation slowed for clothing and footwear (3.5% vs 4.4%), transport (2.9% vs 8.7%), and restaurants and hotels (2.4% vs 4.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 1% in February, following a 0.6% gain in the preceding period.
