The Netherlands’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate ticked higher to 3.9% in March 2025, from 3.8% in each of the previous two months. The number of unemployed individuals rose by 3 thousand from a month earlier to 395 thousand, the highest level since September 2021. Meanwhile, employment increased by 5 thousand to a nine-month high of 9.816 million. The labor force participation rate held steady at 76% for the third consecutive month. During the period, 190 thousand people received unemployment benefits. In March 2024, the jobless rate was 0.3 percentage points lower to 3.6%.
