The number of payrolled employees in the United Kingdom decreased by 5 thousand to 30.4 million in October 2024, following a downwardly revised 9 thousand drop in the previous month. Compared to the same month last year, payrolled employment rose by 0.3% or 95 thousand, driven by the health and social work sector (+161 thousand). Across regions, the highest annual increase in payrolled employment was in Causeway Coast and Glens (1.9%), while the largest decline was in Westminster (-2.8%).
