The natural gas market has been somewhat sideways over the past few sessions, as we are trying to find some kind of temporary bottom. This is a quiet time of year for natural gas traditionally, and therefore it shouldn’t be surprising that we are languishing in this region.

Natural Gas Technical Analysis

The natural gas markets have shown themselves to be somewhat lackluster in the early hours of trading on Thursday, as we continue to just dance around the $2.25 level. Currently, I am paying close attention to whether or not we can bounce, because if we do, then we might have a move towards the $2.50 level. And it might be worth noting that there is a lot of heat coming to the United States next week. But I think that’s probably about how aggressively the market rallies. I think it’s going to end up being short term regardless.

Underneath, we do have a lot of support near the $2.25 level, but even more so closer to the $2 level. I suspect that this is going to be a good investment opportunity, but trading I’m not so excited about when it comes to natural gas as it is so noisy on a short term basis. Historically speaking, this is a very quiet time of year, and it seems to be sometime in the fall.

We’ll start to pick it up as we price in the idea of heating demands in winter. It is because of that I am investing in natural gas. I’m not trading it. I use an ETF. You could use a small CFD position, something that really doesn’t matter to you what it does on a day to day basis. Recognizing that sooner or later we do rally and breakout to the upside for the yearly surge.
