Brazil recorded a nominal budget deficit of R$97.2 billion in February 2025, lower than the R$113.8 billion observed in the same month of the previous year and broadly aligning with the projection of R$-91.8 billion. This was the government's first budget deficit in 2025. The debt-to-GDP ratio reached 76.2%, an increase from 75.7% recorded in January. The fiscal result included a surplus of R$9.244 billion for regional governments and R$299 million for state-owned companies. The central government's primary deficit was R$28.517 billion in February and accumulated R$14.194 billion in the last 12 months, equivalent to 0.12% of GDP.
