Costa Rica Unemployment Rate

The unemployment rate in Costa Rica dropped to 7.8% in the first quarter of 2024, from 10.6% in the same period last year, as the number of unemployed individuals decreased by 65.8 thousand from the previous year to 183 thousand. Concurrently, the employment rate rose to 51.5% from 50.7%, with the number of employed individuals increasing by 59.5 thousand to 2.16 million. Meantime, the labor force participation rate fell to 55.9% from 56.8%.
