The unemployment rate in Costa Rica fell to 6.6% in the third quarter of 2024, down from 8.1% in the same period last year. This was the lowest jobless rate since 2010 as the number of unemployed individuals declined by 23.6 thousand from the previous year to 159.05 thousand. Concurrently, the employment rate rose to 53.5%, up from 50.0%, with the number of employed individuals increasing by 177.66 thousand to 2.26 million. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate increased to 57.3% from 54.3%.
