The unemployment rate in Costa Rica dropped to 6.9% in the fourth quarter of 2024, down from 7.3% in the same period last year. The number of unemployed individuals slightly increased by 0.92 thousand from the previous year to 164.81 thousand. Meanwhile, the employment rate climbed to 52.8%, up from 49.9%, with the number of employed individuals significantly advancing by 149 thousand to 2.23 million. In the meantime, the labor force participation rate rose to 56.7% from 53.8%.
