Czech Republic is intensively involved in international trade. It engages in the export of numerous manufactured goods that are used in the production of automobiles, furniture, and electrical appliances. Czech Republic imports mainly machinery and transportation equipment, raw materials, fuels and chemicals. European Union is by far its largest trading partner, accounting for about 83% of exports and 65% of imports.

The Czech Republic trade surplus narrowed to CZK 23.6 billion in November 2024 from CZK 27.8 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year. and defying market expectations of CZK 18.7 billion. Year-on-year, imports increased by 5.8% to CZK 400.9 billion, mainly driven by higher purchases of crude materials, manufactured articles, and commodities not classified. Meanwhile, exports rose at a softer 4.4% to CZK 424.5 billion, primarily attributed to higher sales of beverages & tobacco and mineral fuels, lubricants. Considering the January to November 2024, the country’s trade surplus was recorded at CZK 219.5 billion, with exports rising 4.7% and imports by 2.3%.
