Czech Republic is intensively involved in international trade. It engages in the export of numerous manufactured goods that are used in the production of automobiles, furniture, and electrical appliances. Czech Republic imports mainly machinery and transportation equipment, raw materials, fuels and chemicals. European Union is by far its largest trading partner, accounting for about 83% of exports and 65% of imports.

The Czech Republic trade surplus widened to CZK 6.8 billion in December 2024 from CZK 4.6 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year, exceeding market expectations of CZK 5.3 billion. Exports grew 9.1% year-on-year to CZK 339.7 billion, driven mainly by higher sales of computers and electronic and optical devices. Meanwhile, imports rose 8.5% to CZK 332.9 billion, also fueled by increased purchases of these products. For the full year of 2024, the country’s trade surplus was recorded at CZK 223.2 billion, as exports grew 4.9% and imports increased 2.7%.
