Czech Republic is intensively involved in international trade. It engages in the export of numerous manufactured goods that are used in the production of automobiles, furniture, and electrical appliances. Czech Republic imports mainly machinery and transportation equipment, raw materials, fuels and chemicals. European Union is by far its largest trading partner, accounting for about 83% of exports and 65% of imports.

The Czech Republic's trade surplus declined to CZK 35 billion in February 2025 from CZK 36.04 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year. Exports grew 1.3% from a year earlier to a three-month high of CZK 400.0 billion, mainly boosted by higher sales of manufactured articles (17.6%) and machinery and transport equipment (14.0%). Meanwhile, imports rose by 1.6% to CZK 364.5 billion, primarily attributed to higher purchases of manufactured articles (4.6%) and mineral fuels, lubricants (20.3%). Considering the first two months of the year, the country registered a CZK 56.6 billion surplus, with exports rising 6.4% and imports by 4.9%, respectively.
