Finland's unemployment rate rose to 8.1% in September 2024 from 7.0% in the same month of the previous year, pointing to the highest level since June. The number of unemployed persons increased by 30 thousand from a year earlier to 227 thousand while that of employed fell 54 thousand to 2.574 million. Meantime, the unemployment rate for people aged 15-24 stood at 16.1%, which was 2.3 percentage points more than a year ago. The activity rate for persons aged 15-74 dropped to 67.4% from 68.4% a year ago, and the employment rate for persons aged 15-74 fell to 61.9% from 63.6%.
