Finland’s unemployment rate increased to 7.9% in July 2024 from 6.9% in the corresponding month of the previous year. The number of unemployed persons rose by 34 thousand year-on-year to 229 thousand. Meantime, the unemployment rate for people aged 15-24 stood at 11.5%, which was 0.6 percentage points lower than a year ago. On the other hand, the employment rate among persons aged 15-74 increased to 64.6% from 63.6% a year earlier, with the number of employed advancing by 54 thousand to 2.680 million. Meanwhile, the employment rate of persons aged 20-64 declined to 77.4% from 77.7% in July 2023. Finally, the activity rate climbed to 70.1% from 68.3%.
