Hong Kong's seasonal adjusted unemployment rate stood at 3.1% in the three months ending November 2024, unchanged from the previous period. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 1 thousand from a month earlier to 129.7 thousand, while employment increased by 4.8 thousand to 3.712 million. Notable increases in unemployment rates were observed in the decoration, repair and maintenance of the buildings sector, insurance sector, and the postal and courier activities sector. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate, measuring job-seekers between 20 to 29 years old, fell to 6.1% from 6.6% in the preceding period. The labor force participation rate ticked lower to 56.9% from 57%.
