Hong Kong’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 3.1% in the three months ending December 2024, unchanged from the previous two periods. The number of unemployed persons fell 6.1 thousand from a month earlier to 113.6 thousand, while employment increased by 7.1 thousand to 3.719 million. Significant declines in unemployment were observed in the manufacturing, financing, social work activities, and arts, entertainment, and recreation sectors. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate, measuring job-seekers between 20 to 29 years old, fell to 5.8% from 6.1% in the preceding period. The labor force participation rate was unchanged at 56.9%.
