The annual inflation rate in Latvia rose by 3.7% in February 2025 from 3% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since August 2023, as prices accelerated mainly for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (8.4% vs 6.4% in January), education (11% vs 5.8%), miscellaneous goods and services (3.4% vs 1.5%). Additionally, costs rebounded for housing and utilities (1.5% vs -0.4%) and furniture household and maintenance (2.4% vs -0.4%). Meanwhile, inflation slowed for health (4.4% vs 5.5%), communication (4.7% vs 5.9%), and recreation and culture (5.5% vs 6.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.8% in February, the highest in six months, following a 0.6% gain in the preceding month.
