The unemployment rate in Malaysia fell to 3.2% in October 2024 from 3.4% in the same month of the previous year. The latest figure remained the lowest level since January 2020, with the number of unemployed shrinking by 3.4% year-on-year to a 56-month low of 551.4 thousand people, while employment climbed by 1.9% to a fresh peak of 16.72 million. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate increased to 70.5% in October from 70.1% in the same month a year earlier. In September 2024, the unemployment rate stood at 3.2%.
