The unemployment rate in Morocco rose to 13.1% in the second quarter of 2024, from 12.4% in the same period a year earlier, as the number of unemployed increased by 90 thousand to 1.633 million. Meanwhile, the number of employed fell by 81 thousand to 10.858 million and the workforce increased by 8 thousand to 12.490 million. The unemployment rate was notably high among age group 15-24 at 36.1% and it stood at 19.4% among graduates and 17.7% among women. Among activities, the agricultural sector lost 152 thousand jobs and the construction sector lost 35 thousand. In contrast, more jobs were added to the services sector (+49 thousand) and manufacturing (+58 thousand).
