Latest Updates
The annual inflation rate in the Netherlands rose to 4% in November 2024, up from 3.5% in October, in line with preliminary estimates. This marks the highest reading since July 2023, primarily due to a rebound in transport prices (1.5% vs -0.9% in October), driven by higher motor fuel costs. Additionally, inflation was higher for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.5% vs 2.1%), clothing and footwear (3.6% vs 2%), and health (6.4% vs 6.1%). Meanwhile, prices continued to decline for upholstery and household appliances (-1.6% vs -2.3%), and inflation edged down for housing and utilities (4.5% vs 4.6%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.6%, following a 0.5% rise in October. The harmonized CPI, used for comparisons with other EU member states, increased by 3.8% year-on-year, accelerating from a 3.3% rise in the prior month.
