The unemployment rate in the Philippines rose to 3.8% in February 2025 from 3.5% in the same month last year. The number of unemployed individuals grew to 1.94 million from 1.80 million in February 2024, while the number of employed persons increased to 49.15 million from 48.95 million. Among the major industry sectors, the services sector remained the largest in terms of employment, accounting for 61.6% of the total employed population, followed by agriculture at 20.1%, and industry at 18.3%. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate eased to 64.5%, compared to 64.8% a year earlier. On average, employed individuals worked 41.1 hours per week, slightly more than the 40.1 hours recorded in February 2024.
