Romania's trade deficit rose to EUR 2.84 billion in November 2024 from EUR 2.32 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year, as imports rose much faster than exports. Imports climbed 6.2% year-on-year to EUR 11.23 billion, as purchases from non-EU countries increased significantly (19.8%), while imports from the EU also rose (1.8%). Meanwhile, exports grew 1.6% to EUR 8.39 billion, amid higher sales to non-EU countries (4.3%) and the EU (0.6%). For the first eleven months of the year, the country’s trade gap widened to EUR 30.05 billion from EUR 25.54 billion in the same month last year, as exports dropped (-1%) while imports increased (3.3%).
