Latest Updates
Romania's GDP advanced 0.5% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2024, softer than the second estimate of 0.7%, easing from an upwardly revised 1.5% in the previous three-month period. This marked the softest growth since the first quarter, amid sharp declines in fixed investments (-17.9%) and a negative contribution from net external demand, with exports down 3.0% and imports up 5.3%. The decline was partially offset by a 6.7% rise in household consumption and a 4.3% increase in government spending. On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the economy expanded 0.6% in Q4, rebounding from a 0.1% contraction in the previous period. For 2024 as a whole, GDP grew 0.8%, slowing from 2.4% in 2023
