Romania's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 5.4% in July 2024 from a downwardly revised 5.1% in the previous month. This was the highest jobless rate since January, as the number of unemployed persons increased by 20.4 thousand from a month earlier to 451.2 million. Among genders, the jobless rate for men went up (5.7% vs 5.5% in June), and that for women also grew (5.1% vs 4.6%). In July 2023, the unemployment rate was 5.6%.
