On the expenditure side, household expenditure is the main component of Slovenia's GDP and accounts for 53 percent of its total use, followed by gross fixed capital formation (20 percent) and government consumption (19 percent). Exports of goods and services account for 77 percent of GDP while imports account for 69 percent, adding 8 percent of total GDP.

Slovenia’s gross domestic product expanded by 1.5% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2024, slightly easing from an upwardly revised 1.6% growth in the previous quarter. The economic slowdown was mainly influenced by softer increases in household consumption (1.2% vs 1.7% in Q3) and government spending (5.7% vs 9.2%). Meanwhile, fixed investments declined at a softer pace (-5.2% vs -8.1%). Additionally, net trade has added 1.3 percentage points to the GDP, as exports (3.9%) rose more than imports (2.3%). On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the economy advanced by 0.6%, following an upwardly revised 0.4% rise in the preceding period.
