Sweden’s unemployment rate dropped to 8.5% in March 2025 from 9.2% in the same month of the previous year. This marked the lowest unemployment rate since December 2024, as the number of unemployed people decreased by 39 thousand from a year earlier to 486 thousand, while employment increased by 52 thousand to 5.24 million. The employment rate rose by 0.4 percentage points to 68.7%, while the labor force participation rate declined by 0.2 percentage points to 75.1%. The average total number of hours worked per week amounted to 171.4 million. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate stood at 8.8%, unchanged from the preceding period.
