Sweden Unemployment Rate

The unemployment rate in Sweden rose to 7.8% in October 2024 from 7.2% in the corresponding month of the previous year. The number of unemployed people increased by 22 thousand to 438 thousand, while the employment decreased by 45 thousand to 5.192 million. The employment rate fell by 0.7 percentage points to 68.2%, while the labor force participation rate dropped by 0.5 percentage points to 73.9%. The average number of total hours worked in October amounted to 175.8 million per week. Seasonally adjusted, the unemployment rate stood at 8.5%, unchanged from the previous period.
