The annual inflation rate in Armenia rose to 1.5% in December 2024 from 1.4% in the previous month. This marked the highest inflation rate since April 2023, as prices increased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.0% vs 1.7% in November), health (3.2% vs 2.5%), and recreation & culture (0.4% vs 0%). Additionally, price deflation eased for housing and utilities (-0.2% vs -0.5%) and furnishings, household equipment & routine household maintenance (-2.5% vs -2.7%). Meanwhile, prices slipped further for clothing and footwear (-2.6% vs -2.5%) and miscellaneous goods and services (-1.6% vs -1.3%) and remained unchanged for communication (at 0.4%) and education (at 7.8%). At the same time, costs moderated for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.8% vs 4.1%), transport (3.3% vs 5.7%), and restaurants & hotels (1.4% vs 1.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices advanced by 1.0% in December, slowing from a nearly two-year high of 1.3% gain from the prior period.
