The annual inflation rate in Austria stood at 3.2% in February 2025, unchanged from the previous month but slightly below preliminary estimates of 3.3%. Still, this marked the highest reading since May 2024, as prices accelerated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.6% vs 2.1% in January), housing and utilities (5.2% vs 4.5%), and restaurants and hotels (6% vs 5.6%). At the same time, costs rebounded for clothing and footwear (1.7% vs -1.1%). Conversely, inflation slowed for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.4% vs 2.7%) and transport (0.8% vs 2.4%), while it declined for furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (-0.6% vs 0.2%) and communication (-5.8% vs -5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.6% in February, easing from a 1% increase in the preceding period.
