Botswana Interest Rate

The Central Bank of Botswana decided to hold its benchmark interest rate steady for the third consecutive meeting at 1.90% on February 20th,2025. The headline inflation rate in Botswana quickened to a five-month high of 2.5% in January, from 1.7% in December, but remaining below the lower bound of the medium-term objective range of 3%-6%. The MPC forecasts inflation to remain low into the medium term, averaging 3.9% in 2025 and 5% in 2026. Meanwhile, the economy is projected to run below full capacity in the short term, despite 3.3% growth, with a slight recovery anticipated in the medium term.
