In Canada, New Housing Price Index (NHPI) measures changes over time in the contractors' selling prices of new residential houses, where specifications of each house remain the same between two consecutive periods.
Latest Updates
Prices of new homes in Canada rose 0.9 percent over a month earlier in October of 2021, quickening from a 0.4 percent gain in September and beating market forecasts of 0.5 percent. New house prices were up in 15 of the 27 census metropolitan areas surveyed, led by Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo (+3.8 percent) and London (2.4 percent), given their proximity to Toronto. Meanwhile, new home prices in Victoria rose the most since 2002 (+3.3 percent), amid robust demand and diminishing supplies. On an annual basis, new house prices jumped 11.5 percent in October.
