In Denmark, the consumer confidence indicator analyzes the consumer climate through questions about the economic situation as perceived by consumers at a given time concerning both the general economic situation in Denmark and the financial situation of the family. At present an omnibus survey consists of a sample of about 1,500 persons, drawn from a population of persons aged 16-74 years residing in Denmark.

Latest Updates

Denmark’s consumer confidence index dropped to -17.0 in April 2025 from -15.5 in the previous month, reaching its lowest level since April 2023. The decline was largely driven by deteriorating sentiment toward households’ financial situations compared to a year ago (-10.1 vs -8.0) and expectations for their finances over the next twelve months (-6.4 vs -1.9). At the same time, pessimism deepened regarding the current economic climate (-23.0 vs -21.6) and the outlook for the broader economy in the year ahead (-31.7 vs -30.8). On a brighter note, indicators not included in the confidence index showed easing concerns about unemployment, with fewer respondents expecting joblessness to rise (16.0 vs 17.1). Inflation expectations also moderated slightly, as a smaller share of consumers anticipated higher prices in the coming year (40.8 vs 42.8).
