Euro Area Imports

Imports into the Euro Area decreased by 18.7% year-on-year to €201.9 billion in December 2023, reaching the lowest level since August 2021, due to reduced purchases across all categories, including fuels (-38.3%), crude materials (-19.6%), manufactured goods (-12.4%), machinery and transport equipment (-9.8%), and foods (-7.3%). Among major trade partners, imports declined mainly from Russia, Norway, the UK, Switzerland, and China. Considering 2023 full year, imports declined by 13.5% to €2,773.8 billion.
