France posted a current account deficit of EUR 2.2 billion in January 2025, shifting from an upwardly revised EUR 2.6 billion in December 2024. This marked the largest current account shortfall since October 2024, as goods account deficit widened significantly to EUR 5.8 billion from EUR 0.8 billion, while services account surplus narrowed slightly to EUR 3.5 billion from EUR 3.7 billion. Meanwhile, primary income surplus increased to EUR 4.4 billion in January from EUR 3.9 billion in the previous month, while secondary income deficit remained steady at EUR 4.3 billion.
