The unemployment rate in Hungary increased to 4.6% in July–September 2024, from 4% in the corresponding period of the previous year. The number of unemployed people rose by 26 thousand year-on-year to 225 thousand. Of this total, 121 thousand were men, with their unemployment rate up to 4.6%, while 103 thousand were women and their unemployment rate was 4.5%. Meanwhile, employment dropped by 1 thousand to 4.709 million. The average time spent looking for a job was 11.9 months, with 45% of all unemployed people had been looking for a job for less than 3 months and 34% for at least a year.
