Hungary Unemployment Rate

The unemployment rate in Hungary declined to 4.3% in the three-month period to January 2025, down from 4.6% in the same period last year. The number of unemployed individuals decreased by 10.7 thousand to 212.8 thousand. Of this total, 115.3 thousand were men and 97.5 thousand were women, with an unemployment rate of 4.4% for men and 4.2% for women. The average time spent looking for a job was 12.1 months, with 43.7% of all unemployed individuals having been looking for a job for less than 3 months, while those looking for work for at least a year accounted for 36.1% of the unemployed. Meanwhile, the number of employed persons increased by 10.6 thousand to 4.697 million. Employment among men rose by 9.5 thousand to 2.490 million, while employment among women fell by 1.5 thousand to 2.207 million.
