Hungary Wages

Hungary’s gross average wages rose by 9.8% year-on-year to HUF 708,300 in April 2025, accelerating from an over two-year low of 8.5% in the previous month. This marked the strongest annual growth rate since January, as wage increases were recorded in both the private sector (9.9% vs 8.5% in March) and the non-profit sector (12.5% vs 8.6%). Meanwhile, wage growth in the public sector remained unchanged at 8.4%. Without the impact of one-off payments and bonuses, April’s wages were 10.3% higher than in the same period a year ago at HUF 657,800. Considering the January to April period, average gross wages rose by 9.4%.
