Construction orders in Japan fell 3.3% year-on-year to ¥1.280 billion in February 2025, following a 12.2% rise in the previous month. The decline was driven by weaker domestic orders (-1.3% vs. +8.5% in January), particularly from the public sector (-2.4% vs. -7.9%). Meanwhile, overseas orders surged 24.1%, rebounding from a 56.7% plunge in January. Growth in building construction accelerated (6% vs. 4.9%), while demand for civil engineering works recovered (5.3% vs. -15.7%). Considering the first two months of the year, construction orders increased 5.8% compared to the same period last year.
