In Lebanon, the most important categories in the consumer price index are housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (28.5 percent of the total weight) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (20.6 percent of the total weight) and transport (13.1 percent). The index also includes: health (7.8 percent); education (5.9 percent); clothing and footwear (5.4 percent) and communication (4.6 percent). Furnishings, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, recreation and cultural activities, hotels, restaurants and other goods and services account for the remaining 14 percent of total weight.

The annual inflation rate in Lebanon slid to 14.2% in March 2025, the lowest in five years, down from 15.6% in the previous month. The main downward pressure stemmed from slower price growth in housing & utilities (16.5% vs 18.5%); transportation (2.5% vs 9%); clothing and footwear (11% vs 14.4%); recreation & culture (4.5% vs 5%); and restaurant & hotels (17.3% vs 18%). Meanwhile, price fell further in furnishings, household equipment & routine household maintenance (-8.4% vs -8.2%). By contrast, cost for food and non-alcoholic beverages accelerated (21.4% vs 20.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.4% in March, the lowest in six months, slowing from a 0.7% rise in February.
