Latest Updates
The Central Bank of Tunisia maintained its key interest rate at 8% on February 5, 2025, the highest level since at least 2006. The decision came amid easing inflation and was consistent with the inflation outlook. Inflation remained on a downward trend in December to 6.2%, marking the lowest rate since September 2021 due to a slowdown in fresh food prices, from 6.6% in the previous month. Additionally, core inflation, excluding fresh food products and products at administered prices, stood at 5.5% from 5.8% in November. At the same time, the current account deficit narrowed by 1.7% of GDP year-on-year in Q4 of 2024, compared to a 2.3% deficit of GDP in the same quarter of the previous year.
