Turkey Unemployment Rate

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Turkey decreased to 8.5% in December 2024, down from 8.6% in November and below the 8.8% recorded a year earlier. It was the lowest jobless rate since May, as the number of unemployed individuals dropped by 39 thousand to 3.026 million. Meanwhile, employment fell by 54 thousand to 32.718 million, lowering the employment rate to 49.5%, compared to 49.6% in November, marking the lowest level in four months. The employment rate for men stood at 66.9%, while for women it was 32.4%. Additionally, the labor force participation rate edged down to 54.1% from 54.2%, reaching the lowest level since April. On the other hand, the youth unemployment rate increased to 16.3% from 15.8%.
