Turkey Unemployment Rate

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate in Turkey increased to 8.8% in October 2024 from an upwardly revised 8.7% in September. It was the highest jobless rate since July, as the number of unemployed persons rose by 61 thousand to a four-month high of 3.2 million persons. Meanwhile, employment climbed by 156 thousand to 32.970 million, pushing the employment rate up by 0.2 percentage points to 49.9%. Also, the number of persons in the labour force rose by 219 thousand to 36.146 million. The labour force participation rate increased to a record high of 54.7% in October, from 54.4% in September. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate was 16.6%, down by 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous month.
