Chile Unemployment Rate

The unemployment rate in Chile was at 8.4% for December 2024 – February 2025, above market expectations of 8.1%. This represents a 0.1 percentage point decrease compared to the previous year, due to a 0.9% rise in employed people, surpassing the 0.8% increase in the labor force. The unemployed population fell by 0.6%, driven by a 1.1% drop in job seekers. For women, unemployment rose to 9.3% (+0.3 pp.), as the labor force grew by 0.6%, exceeding the 0.4% rise in employment. For men, unemployment dropped to 7.7% (-0.4 pp.), with employment rising 1.4%. Employment grew 0.9%, mainly in transportation (+7.9%), finance (+17.2%), and public administration (+4.9%), driven by formal salaried jobs (+3.2%).
