Russia’s economy is highly dependent on exports of commodities with revenues from sales of crude oil, petroleum products, and natural gas accounting for about a half of Russia’s federal budget. In 2015, Russia’s main exports were: fuels and energy products (63 percent of total shipments, of which crude oil and natural gas accounted for 26 percent and 12 percent respectively); metals (10 percent); machinery and equipment (7.4 percent); chemical products (7.4 percent) and foodstuffs and agricultural products (5 percent). Main export partners were: China (12 percent), Germany (9 percent), Netherlands (8.4 percent), Italy (5.8 percent), Belarus (4.7 percent), Turkey (4.4 percent) and Japan (4.1 percent).
